The Patient Farmers
My friend Jaxon and I went to a farmer’s market yesterday. There were so many beautiful carrots; I bought a bunch from each farmer at the market. I planted some carrots this spring. Remember? The instructions were “be patient.” I … Continue reading

The Art of Rest
I’m not very good at resting; there is always something that needs to be done, read, written, cleaned, or organized. I’m like Tom Brady, running a “no huddle offense.” Yesterday, I was busy “in the pocket” planting some more daffodil … Continue reading
Lumbering Around
I had a “Class Reunion” meeting on Friday night and then something else suddenly came up, so I had no choice but to call The Motel and find out if my mother could open for a last minute reservation. She … Continue reading

Turkeys in our Midst
Some people raise chickens and some people raise turkeys. Some people raise both. Turkeys contain Tryptophan, an ingredient that promotes drowsiness and rest. Turkeys were made for rainy Sundays.
The Eternal Rest of Marigolds
These Red Marietta marigolds were the last plants in the big home garden I share with Uncle Bob. I didn’t want to pull them out, but I knew they were approaching the end of their days. Uncle Bob said he … Continue reading

Beautiful Trees
Some people recharge their batteries by vacationing in remote, tropical places. I try to keep it simple; the backyard lawn chair works just fine. The beautiful trees are still beautiful. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve been given. Peace and … Continue reading

Silver and Gold
I haven’t seen my friend Jaxon all summer. We’re both busy; Jaxon works for a Giant Corporation and it keeps him on his toes. We hadn’t planned to spend time together but through a careful coordination of circumstances, thought, and … Continue reading
Forever 12 – The Big Time Rush
Cherie Ripperton texted me from the Big Time Rush concert in Manchester, New Hampshire last night. She herself is not a fan, but her 12-year-old daughter is; when you’re a concerned parent, you go to boy band concerts. She seemed … Continue reading

The Redemption Garden
I started work on a new “secret garden” yesterday. I’m going to give up my other secret garden. I haven’t written about this “other” secret garden as I promised I would; I will. When I pick the last Riesentraube tomato, … Continue reading

Some Things Take Time
There was an article in a local Maine paper today; it was about Hydrangea. Some people don’t like it when their Hydrangea flop. I love Hydrangea. This one is probably a “PeeGee.” I’m not a good judge of plant age … Continue reading
